frog SXSW Interactive
frog Design’s SXSW opening party included numerous interactive elements that allowed participants to collaboratively modulate different parameters of dynamically generated visual effects that were projected on multiple surfaces simultaneously in the space. The visual effects were also sound reactive so the participants were effectively VJing for the party. The interactive drop zones used a micro-service based approach to aggregating and processing both touch and display data. Dockerized NodeJS services were run on Linux-based micro controllers that were placed throughout the space to collect control information. A distributor service received event data from the controller nodes via WebSocket and redistributed the interpolated data to the display services that were generating the visual effects. The distributor service also interpolated an audio input and redistributed the data by mapping the audio spectrum to visual parameters.YEAR2017TEAM5ROLEDesign & fabrication · Software engineering
